Accessibility
Elfege Systems builds systems for the physical world, and access is part of that job — not an afterthought. This site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance. Below is an honest account of what is in place today, what is still in progress, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
What’s implemented
Full keyboard operation
Every interactive control is reachable and operable with the keyboard alone, in a logical order. A skip link jumps straight past the navigation to the main content.
Visible focus
The element you are on always shows a clear focus outline (:focus-visible), so you never lose your place while tabbing.
Meaning never by colour alone
Status and severity are encoded by shape, text label, and luminance together — a glyph and a word, not a hue. This site is built by and for a colourblind operator, so red/blue are used only as reinforcement, never as the sole signal.
Respects reduced motion
If your system requests reduced motion (prefers-reduced-motion), non-essential animation and transitions are suppressed.
Light and dark themes
The palette follows your operating-system light/dark preference, and both themes are tuned to meet WCAG AA contrast for text.
Semantic structure
Landmarks (navigation, main, contentinfo), a single page-level heading, and an ordered heading outline let assistive technology map and navigate each page.
Known limitations
We would rather name the gaps than pretend they don’t exist:
- Video captions are in progress. Product walkthroughs on the site expose a captions track only where a caption file has been authored; several clips are not yet captioned. Transcripts and captions for the remaining videos are being produced.
- Third-party embeds. Where we embed external media or documents, their accessibility is bounded by the upstream provider; we prefer self-hosted, controllable alternatives and are migrating toward them.
